“I have loved the stars too truly to be fearful of the night.” — Sarah Williams
I believe this is the last of the Darlene scarves I have to show you…
The quote from Galileo — he’s my guy!
[UPDATE: The quote is actually from the poetry of Sarah Williams, The Old Astronomer to His Pupil, (Thank you r2 for setting me straight.) Galileo’s still my guy, but now I want to know more about Sarah Williams…]
Though, perhaps for me it’s really: I have loved the night so fondly, how could I not love stars?
I’m happier at night. I operate better at night, in general. I’m actually smarter at night. Don’t know why.
Given that I can’t be a night-dweller, with this DayJob, I try to bring in the night as much as possible. My screen-saver at work cycles through NASA images.
Today is truly unpleasant at the DayJob, and more to come with overtime… Plus: weekly confab with my Boss.

I have been admiring your scarves and your spirit. I am also a big fan of prayer flags. I think I just like the idea that someone, somewhere invented the automatic prayer. Hope that things will be easier and better soon. Really, I have never figured out why someone with your gifts is forced into a Day Job, but so it goes.

I once became the entire night shift at a job because I hated the day shifters so much. Maybe you could do something like that?

Lindig, I’ve done that as well! Not just disliked the day shifters, but didn’t hated the unnecessary noise, crowds, and fuss.

Also,
I guess not everyone has the same feeling about the stars — see http://xkcd.com/975/

It’s not actually Galileo’s quote… see for yourself: http://cwnl.tumblr.com/post/13741877781/i-cringe-every-time-i-see-this-quote-along-with
it’s by a poet named Sarah Williams

R2 —
Ack! My mistake (or the mistake of the website that LIED and told me it was Galileo!).
I’ll set that straight in the post.
